Improving English Skill is Fun on EFSC

Mr. Ali introduced himself and then he told about some differences between Indonesia and his country.

As college student in this globalization era, having skills in communication is very important for us. One of the most important skills in communication that we must have is speaking English. As we know, Indonesia will face AEC in 2015. It means in less than five months we will be in AEC. So we must prepare our skills in English as good as possible.

Who said that learning English is difficult?. We all maybe believe that having skills in English is very important for college student like us. Especially most of our literature books are written in English. So, to facilitate the students of JTE and TMJ improving English skills, there was a event called English Free Speaking Class.

English Free Speaking Class (EFSC) was held in September, 15 2014 at AJ 102 room. The theme of EFSC was “English Yes We Can”. “All students including us must have good skill in English and we can improve our skill easily by being confident to speak English” said Fiona Yolita as Chief Organizer of EFSC. EFSC is a kind of seminar that the purpose is to make a habit in speaking English. By make it a habit, skill in English is easier to be improved. Because having good skill in English needs time.

EFSC will be held once a month in five times.

EFSC began with an introduction game. In this chapter of event, all the participants in the room must introduce their self one by one. Everyone looked enjoying this game even not all the participants spoke English well. But at least they were confident to speak English.

The next chapter was sharing time. The speaker was Mr. Ali, a student of master program from Sierra Leone, South West of Africa. Mr. Ali introduced himself and then he told about some differences between Indonesia and his country. “I was impressed by the people of Surabaya” said Mr. Ali who is taking master program of environmental engineering in ITS. EFSC ended with a story cycle game. This was a game that everyone must create a sentence one by one. The sentence must be related each other so it forms a story. The participants of EFSC looked so excited in this game. EFSC was so fun.  EFSC will be held once a month in five times. So let’s improve our skill in English by practice and make it a habit! (TAU)
